The Director General of The Finnish National Board of Education is Mr Aulis Pitkälä

The FNBE has five units:

  • General Education
  • Vocational Education and Training
  • Information and Evaluation Services
  • Services for Education Sector and Administration
  • Education in Swedish

The National Board of Education also manages 12 state-owned educational institutions:

Ruskeasuo school, Helsinki

The Educational center of Sami Area was founded through legislation to maintain and develop Sami culture and nature-based occupations and to promote the production of educational material published in Sami.

Meriturva is a state-owned establishment under the National Board of Education and offers maritime safety training in various forms.
