Finnish National Agency for Education is a national development agency. Finnish National Agency for Education is responsible for the development of early childhood education and care, pre-primary, basic, general upper secondary, vocational upper secondary and adult education. Finnish National Agency for Education is subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Culture and its tasks and organisation are set in the legislation.

    Statistics of the month: Number of Finnish studying for a degree abroad has doubled in the last ten years

    The number of Finnish degree students abroad has doubled in the last ten years. In 2015-2106 more than 8 000 Finnish students studied for a degree in a higher education institution abroad. This corresponds to the student number in an average-sized university or university of applied sciences in Finland.

    The National Framework for Qualifications and Other Competence Modules enters into force in March

    The framework helps describe the knowledge, skills and competencies provided by different qualifications, syllabi and competence modules in a unified manner thus furthering international mobility, cooperation and education export as well as recognition of Finnish qualifications abroad. Finnish National Agency for Education is Finland’s National Co-ordination Point whose tasks include, among others, providing stakeholders with information and guidance in questions related to qualification frameworks.

    Finnish National Agency for Education begins its operations at the beginning of 2017

    A new agency aimed at developing Finnish education, learning and competence will be launched at the beginning of 2017 as the Finnish National Board of Education and CIMO Centre for International Mobility merge to form the Finnish National Agency for Education. The new organisation will continue to provide expert services in the same fields as its predecessors: developing education and life-long learning as well as promoting international mobility and cooperation.
