Importance of language proficiency for highly educated immigrants – SIMHE webinar on language awareness in higher education and the world of work
The webinar presented good practices developed in SIMHE services (Supporting Immigrants in Higher Education in Finland) relevant to highly educated immigrants’ language proficiency. In the panel discussion, the significance of language proficiency in higher education and the world of work was approached from the viewpoints of research and development.
The objective of the SIMHE services is to streamline the identification and recognition of the prior learning of highly educated immigrants and those with a foreign background as well as to facilitate their access to higher education, completion of degrees and employment in the Finnish labour market at the national and regional levels.
The webinar is aimed for higher education institutions, those working with services for highly educated immigrants, and everyone interested in the topic.
