Move!-system
Move!-measurements are administered as part of the physical education curriculum for all 5th and 8th grade pupils during August and September. At the core of the system are the children and young people themselves, whose well-being and physical activity are supported both individually and as part of the community.
Individually
- For individual pupils, Move! provides information and feedback about their own physical functional capacity and tips on how to improve it.
- Pupils’ parents receive information about the prerequisite of their child’s physical well-being and what factors related to the child’s well-being they should pay attention to.
- Health care professionals, school nurses and doctors, receive information about pupils' well-being and possible hindering factors.
- Teachers receive information on what aspects of the physical functional capacity they should pay attention to when planning the curriculum.
As part of the community
- The Move! results are stored anonymously in a national database and made available to schools, municipalities, and wellbeing areas.
- Schools are provided with an annual report card to support the planning and evaluation of physical activities in the school community.
- On the national level, Move! produces objective information about children’s and adolescents’ physical functional capacity, for example, to support political decision making.
All measurement results are recorded in the database anonymously. An individual pupil cannot be identified from the data. Characters with different facial expressions are used in the statistics to represent the results. Characters are based on the national normative reference values which have determined by the multidisciplinary Move! expert group.
In the Move! statistics, the national results for each measurement section, as well as results by grade level and by gender, are displayed. The statistics are based on individually entered pupil-specific information. Additionally, summaries of municipal results are published. School results are forwarded only to the designated person in charge.
