11,500 new students offered admission in the autumn joint application to higher education institutions

The results of the autumn joint application have been published. The joint application included programmes starting in January 2026.

33,900 applicants participated in the joint application, of whom 11,500, or 34 %, were offered admission. 11,300 applicants were offered admission to universities of applied sciences and 170 applicants to universities.

Most of the programmes offered in the autumn joint application were provided by universities of applied sciences: 20 universities of applied sciences and two universities were involved. Of the study options, 301 were to universities of applied sciences and nine to universities. 98 % of the applicants applied to universities of applied sciences, 1% applied to both, and 1% applied to universities alone.

More than half offered admission in their preferred programme

Of the students that so far were offered a study place, 67 % gained admission to their first programme of choice.  

On average, applicants set 3.1 study options on the application form. In the autumn joint application, one can apply for six programmes.  

28,900 applicants applied for programmes leading to a bachelor's or bachelor's and master's degree. Of them, 9,460 were offered admission. Moreover 1,990 applicants were admitted to programmes leading directly to a master's degree. The number of applicants for these programmes was 5,780.

You can still be offered admission from the waiting list in December

This week, the applicants have been informed of the results of the autumn joint application. The offer of admission must be accepted by 3 p.m. on Thursday 27.11. at the latest. Admission can be offered from the waiting list until 8.12.

The higher education institutions can organise additional application periods in November and December for study places that have remained vacant in the joint application. The available programmes can be seen on the Studyinfo portal maintained by the Finnish National Agency of Education and on the universities' websites as the higher education institutions decide to arrange an additional application.

The joint application to higher education degree programmes in English for studies beginning in autumn 2025 is from 7 January to 21 January 2026. You can apply in the joint application through Studyinfo.
