Changes in registration for YKI tests

YKI registrations in My Studyinfo

To register for a YKI test, you must log in to the system using Suomi.fi e-Identification or via email.

If you logged in using Suomi.fi e-Identification when registering for the test, you will be able to view your YKI test registration in the My Studyinfo service. On the My YKI registrations page, you can view and edit your registrations for YKI tests:

• You can view your registrations for the last 12 months.
• You can reschedule your registration only once.
• You can cancel your registration.
• You can view the tests for which you are on the waiting list and accept a place in a test from the waiting list.

If you logged in using email authentication when registering for the test, you have received a confirmation of your registration by email. The email was sent from noreply [at] opintopolku.fi when you registered for the YKI test. The email includes a link through which you can view and edit your registration for the YKI test:

• You can view the details of one registration.
• You can reschedule your registration only once.
• You can cancel your registration.
• If you registered for a waiting list, you can view the details of the waiting list and accept a place in the test from the waiting list.

You can reschedule or cancel your registration no later than 8AM on the test day. Rescheduling or cancellation afterwards is not possible.

Waiting lists for YKI tests

As of 8 September 2025, the Finnish National Agency for Education is implementing waiting lists for YKI tests.

If a YKI test is fully booked, you can register for its waiting list on the YKI registration page. 

You can only register for one YKI test or its waiting list on the same test day. 

Once you have registered for a waiting list, you will receive a confirmation email. The email includes a link that you can use to check your position on the waiting list. 

If you receive a place in a YKI test from the waiting list, you will be notified of this by email. Please keep an active eye on your email. 

If you receive a place in a YKI test from the waiting list, you will need to pay the test fee by the due date. The payment link is valid for one day. If you do not pay the test fee on time, you will lose your place in the YKI test. 

You can receive a place in a YKI test from the waiting list one week before the test date at the latest.

Why have these changes been made?

In spring 2024, the Finnish National Agency for Education reported that the places for intermediate-level Finnish language YKI tests have been filled at an increasing rate in recent years. In response, the Finnish National Agency for Education has sought to increase the number of YKI test organisers and develop the registration system with input from customers.

The changes introduced in September 2025 are therefore aimed at making the registration for YKI tests smoother and providing more opportunities for participants to take part in the YKI tests. In the past, participants needed to contact the test centre to reschedule or cancel their registration, but now participants can reschedule or cancel their registration personally in the My Studyinfo service. The waiting lists for YKI tests provide added flexibility and replace the previously used email notifications of available seats.
