Erasmus+ for Higher Education is the European Union's exchange and cooperation programme for higher education institutions for 2014 ̶2020. The programme supports international cooperation between higher education institutions and mobility of their students, teachers and other staff. Additionally, the programme promotes the quality and internationalisation of higher education.

The Erasmus+ Programme has been a key actor in the internationalisation of higher education in Finland: over the last 30 years, more than 90 000 students have taken part in student exchange and more than 13 000 students in internships in other countries in Europe. Respectively, Finland has received over 120 000 higher education students from other countries. In addition to students, every year a couple of thousand staff members from Finnish higher education institutions take part in the programme.

The Finnish National Agency for the Erasmus+ Programme is in the Finnish National Agency for Education (EDUFI). The National Agency grants and coordinates funding in Finland and is responsible for programme announcements. A part of Erasmus+ projects is coordinated in the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) of the European Commission.
