Erasmus+ Global Mobility in higher education supports incoming and outgoing mobility periods between Finland and third countries not associated with the Erasmus+ programme.

Support for Erasmus+ Global Mobility (also referred to as KA171 or International Credit Mobility, ICM) covers grants for studying, training, teaching, and professional development, as well as funding for higher education institutions to organise and support mobility activities.

Global Mobility is funded through the EU's external action budget. Projects financed from external action funds are divided into 12 budget envelopes across different world regions. The size of each region’s budget envelope depends on the EU’s external policy priorities. Collaboration with different regions is subject to varying rules.

Individual grants under Global Mobility are larger than those for mobility within Europe, but the arrangements for exchanges largely follow the same principles as intra-European mobility.
