You can apply on the course if
- you study Finnish language in a university outside Finland
- you have completed courses in Finnish language during the previous academic year
- you have studied Finnish intensively for at least one academic year or less intensively for at least two academic years, and
- you understand and can use Finnish in everyday situations.
Course level, scope and assessment
The level of proficiency required on the course is A2 (European language level) and the scope is 10 ECTS credits. The course has about 80 hours of tuition. The language of tuition is Finnish.
The course is assessed on the scale pass–fail.
Course content
During the course, you will practise using the Finnish language in different situations.
The aim is to develop, in particular, your
- understanding of spoken Finnish
- fluency of speech
- vocabulary of Finnish.
Besides, the aim is that you will be encouraged to speak Finnish.
On the course you will also practise reading, writing and a little grammar. You will complete a written and oral course assignment and learn about Finnish culture and society through lectures and a social programme.
We expect you to participate actively during the course so that you can receive the course certificate. It is important to attend all lessons, do your homework and the course assignment.
