Finland wins recognition for supporting researchers fleeing crisis areas

Finland has received an international award for its efforts to support researchers who have fled crisis areas. The award was presented by the Finnish National Agency for Education’s American cooperation partner, the Institute for International Education (IIE). The award was accepted on Thursday 10 October on behalf of the Finnish Government by Ambassador of Finland to Belgium Jouko Leinonen.

The fourth application round of the Team Finland Knowledge programme (TFK) and this year’s separate call for Ukraine organized for the second time received wide interest among the Finnish higher education institutions (HEIs). Finnish National Agency for Education granted in total 1 506 315 euros for 26 projects selected in the actual call. Funding received per project varies between 31 904 and 80 000 euros and project period is 1.8.2024-31.12.2026.
