The HEP programme supports inclusion in higher education in the Global South through policy development, infrastructure upgrades and inclusive pedagogical practices.

Finnish actors have once again performed well in the 2024 application round for Capacity Building projects within the Erasmus+ programme, despite increasing competition. The interdisciplinary projects address key challenges of our time, such as bridging skills gaps, meeting the demands of digitalisation, and accelerating the green transition in an economically, ecologically, and socially sustainable manner.

Finland has received an international award for its efforts to support researchers who have fled crisis areas. The award was presented by the Finnish National Agency for Education’s American cooperation partner, the Institute for International Education (IIE). The award was accepted on Thursday 10 October on behalf of the Finnish Government by Ambassador of Finland to Belgium Jouko Leinonen.

The event, organised by the Finnish National Agency for Education on 25-26 September 2024, brought together Finnish project coordinators working on partnerships with the Global South. The lively discussions focused on trends, challenges, and ethical principles in educational cooperation.

The fourth application round of the Team Finland Knowledge programme (TFK) and this year’s separate call for Ukraine organized for the second time received wide interest among the Finnish higher education institutions (HEIs). Finnish National Agency for Education granted in total 1 506 315 euros for 26 projects selected in the actual call. Funding received per project varies between 31 904 and 80 000 euros and project period is 1.8.2024-31.12.2026.

The results of the 2023 application round for Erasmus+ Capacity Building projects showcase Finnish actors strengths in global cooperation in higher education, vocational education and training (VET) and sport.
