Ski instructor’s certificate of competency

If you have completed ski instructor training in Finland and wish to practise the profession of ski instructor in another EU or EEA country, you may need a ski instructor’s certificate of competency. These certificates are issued by the Finnish National Agency for Education.

Applications based on acquired rights

The Finnish National Agency for Education can grant you a certificate of competency based on acquired rights if you are a citizen of an EU/EEA country or Switzerland, you have completed Level 3 Ski Instructor (Hiihdonopettaja) training organised by the Finnish National Association of Snowsport Instructors by 14 March 2019, and meet one of the following conditions regarding acquired rights:
•    You have at least 200 days of professional experience gained between 14 March 2014 and 14 March 2019, or
•    You have passed both the Eurotest and Eurosecurity test.

Applications based on professional cards issued under the Memorandum of Understanding or participation in the common training test

If you hold a professional card issued under the Memorandum of Understanding before 13 March 2014 or have successfully passed the common training test (CTT) and want to apply for a ski instructor’s certificate of competency, please contact the Finnish National Agency for Education by email at recognition [at] oph.fi.
