Prevention of violent radicalisation and extremism in vocational education and training
The responsibility for preventing violent radicalisation and extremism and intervening in them belongs to entire society, including vocational education and training. As vocational institutions reach almost one half of the young cohorts and a significant number of adult students, they are places of social growth.
Identifying violent radicalisation and extremism and phenomena associated with them is vital in order to take preventive action and tackle problems. The culture and communal spirit of an educational institution play an important role in preventing violent radicalisation. A systematic approach and clear operating models facilitate the activities of staff and students when concerns arise over a student's potential extreme ideologies or radicalisation.
This brochure was prepared for the staff and management at vocational institutions to support their everyday work and democracy education. It explains what violent radicalisation is and which factors may lead to it.
