In Finland the statistical office, Statistics Finland is responsible for the national comprehensive data collections on education as well as the most part of the societal statistics.

Vipunen is the reporting portal of the education administration. The Ministry of Education and Culture and Finnish National Agency for Education are jointly responsible for its content.

Finnish National Agency for Education publishes statistics on international mobility of students and education professionals in Finland. Statistics are collected from schools, vocational institutions, higher education institutions and adult education organisations.

The main users of the national education statistics are the Ministry of Education and Culture and Finnish National Agency for Education. They are at the moment constructing a statistical internet service Vipunen which will include all relevant educational statistics and some population and working life statistics, too. On the first phase the service will be only in Finnish, but in the future also in Swedish and English.

Comparative data on Finnish education has been published in a report “International comparisons of some features of Finnish education and training”. This report is a chapter in a publication The Statistical Yearbook of Education 2011. The Finnish National Board of Education has published a series of statistical yearbooks since 2001.

Statistics based on specific data collection on teachers in Finland has been published in 2005, 2008, 2010 and 2013.
