The webinar is a continuation to the report on the topic, Establishing Joint Programs in China (published by CHE in conjunction with the Embassy of Finland in Beijing) and a training workshop organized by the embassy and CHE on the same topic in November last year. The feedback from the workshop indicated interest in continuing with the same topic but with focus on Finnish cases.

The speakers

Yuzhuo Cai, Professor, Tampere University

Dr. Yuzhuo Cai is a Senior Lecturer and Adjunct Professor at the Higher Education Group (HEG), Faculty of Management and Business, Tampere University, Finland. He is the Co-Director of Sino-Finnish Education Research Centre/Double Degree Centre, JoLii and Editor-in-Chief of Triple Helix: A Journal of University-Industry-Government Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Janne Hokkanen, Strategy director, LUT University/LAB University of Applied Sciences

Mr. Hokkanen works as a strategy director at LUT University and LAB UAS. Hokkanen has extensive international experience from the university world. He has been building several international cooperation between universities and has been heavily involved in international student recruitment for more than ten years. He was setting up the LUT-HEBUT joint BSc programs at LUT Lahti and Lappeenranta campuses.

Carita Prokki, Director External funding and International Development, Tampere University of Applied Sciences

Mrs. Carita Prokki, (Phd.) has been working in higher education sector for almost twenty five years now. She knows the applied higher education like the back of her hand. Carita Prokki has started her career as leadership teacher. She is a passionate teacher soul and always will be one.  Her over 10 years career as Dean of the Business department in TAMK deepened her knowledge and skills in educational leadership and development. Her dissertation deals with the leadership as well.  The last te years the national and global commercial services of TAMK has taken her around the world. She promotes the excellency of the Finnish Education. Since 2013 she has worked as Director of Business and Global  Operations in TAMK.  Before TAMK time she worked abroad in International Business.    

Dr. Mari-Anna Suurmunne, Counsellor for Education and Science at the Embassy of Finland in Beijing.

In her current work Mari-Anna promotes education and science cooperation between Finland and China. Before her posting, she was the Head of International Relations at Aalto University in Finland. Mari-Anna has experience from university teaching and administration from four different countries (Finland, Romania, Canada and the United States). She holds a Ph.D. degree (political science) from University of Alberta, Canada and a Master of Arts degree (law & diplomacy) from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, MA, USA and she did her bachelor studies (political science) at University of Helsinki.
