Project description and Key Results

The aim of the project was to enhance sustainable development and democracy in Mozambique by promoting higher education and increasing the knowledge on sustainable natural resource and land-use planning, considering different aspects of impacts (ecological, social and economic).

The project provided opportunities for research-exchange and joint scientific publications, and produced course material for further use of Mozambican HEIs in English and Portuguese. Research co-operation could continue with joint project and researcher visits. Teacher exchange can also be arranged when pandemic situation allows travelling as teaching on each others courses would benefit all parties.

The project  strengthened also the collaboration of the Mozambican partner universities with several stakeholders, including both public authorities (e.g. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development) and NGOs (e.g. MICAIA). A prominent example is the MoU signed between 14.6.2021 UniZambeze and the administration of Chimanimani NP, which has already led to new collaborative activities.
