If you have completed your qualifications abroad and wish to become eligible for a teaching position in Finland, it is likely that you will need a decision from the Finnish National Agency for Education recognising your qualifications.

The Finnish National Agency for Education issues decisions for the following teaching positions:

•    pre-primary education
•    class instruction (primary)
•    subject instruction
•    special needs education (part-time special needs education or special needs education)
•    guidance counselling
•    teaching vocational or common qualification units in vocational education and training
•    teaching in liberal adult education

The qualification requirements for various teaching positions are specified in the Teaching Qualifications Decree (986/1998).
