Authoritative services
The Finnish National Agency for Education prepares the national core curricula for general education and early childhood education, and the requirements for vocational and competence-based qualifications. The agency also takes part in preparing education policy decisions and regulates, guides and gives recommendations on the decision-making.
Additionally, the agency maintains a register of student admissions in upper secondary, vocational, and higher education institutions, offers language examinations, funds and organises further training for teachers and other personnel in the field of education, and is in charge of the recognition of foreign qualifications.
EDUFI is also a provider of education, with 6 state-run educational institutions as its responsibility.
Development
The Finnish National Agency for Education supports the development of education and the promotion of internationalisation by:
- participating in development partnerships
- financially supporting education
- offering services in training and consultation
- organising education development projects
Information services
The Finnish National Agency for Education supports the internationalisation of the Finnish society by, for example, enacting programmes and contracts that promote internationality and by producing data regarding internationalisation.
EDUFI also coordinates information system and data register services and produces performance indicators and anticipatory data for the educational field. It additionally gathers information about state subsidies in the educational system and produces and develops limited-circulation learning materials.
