The Finnish National Agency for Education's EDUFI Fellowship for foreign doctoral researchers will cease at the end of 2025. The decision stems from the cost-cutting measures of the productivity programme for the administrative branch of the Ministry of Education and Culture, which are targeted at the operations of the Finnish National Agency for Education.

The Finnish National Agency for Education is currently accepting applications for the EDUFI Fellowship. Due to the high number of grant applications and the ending of the fellowship, we will stop accepting applications already in October. Applications will be accepted until 17 October 2025 at 16:15, and all applications received by then will be processed by the end of the year.

Grants that have already been awarded and related decisions will remain valid and will be paid in accordance with the agreed schedule, even if the payment is scheduled for 2026.

The EDUFI Fellowship was intended especially for doctoral researchers invited to Finland to complete a full doctoral thesis or a double degree at a Finnish university. The grants were awarded to Finnish university departments. Between 2023 and 2025, the Finnish National Agency for Education awarded a total of 262 EDUFI Fellowship grants in 15 disciplines to 12 different universities.
