On this page, instructions have been complied for persons who have received a decision issued by the Finnish National Agency for Education on the recognition of their degree or studies.

The purpose of the Finnish National Agency for Education’s decision is to prove eligibility for a post or position for which there is a qualification requirement based on law. The qualification requirement may be a higher education degree of a certain level or a certain education.

The decision is issued in Finnish or Swedish. We formulate the decisions according to the qualification requirements. 

The decision provides eligibility for the position in terms of the education required. When you apply for a job, the employer may also require you to provide other documents, such as a certificate of language proficiency

Read the decision you have received, the accompanying message and the attached documents through carefully. 

The decision may require you to complete additional requirements. The additional requirements may be supplementing studies, an adaptation period or an aptitude test. If the decision includes additional requirements, read the profession-specific instructions on completing them.

In some situations, you must apply to the Finnish National Agency for Education for a final decision. Use the diagram on this page to determine whether you have to apply for a final decision.

Apply for the final decision using the electronic application form for final decisions. The application form is available in the Studyinfo.fi service in Finnish, Swedish and English.

Use the application form for final decision only if you already have received a conditional decision on recognition and have completed the adaptation period, aptitude test or supplementing studies in accordance with the decision.

The decision can be appealed against to the Administrative Court. Appeal instructions are appended to the decision.
