12 Finnish educational institutions awarded funding for mobilities in the framework of the north2north programme in the academic year 2023-2024

The Finnish National Agency for Education - EDUFI has awarded altogether 62,500 euro in grants to Finnish educational institutions for north2north mobilities in the academic year 2023-2024.

The north2north programme is a mobility programme between the member institutions of the University of the Arctic (UArctic) consortium. The programme supports mobility between UArctic's member institutions in the arctic areas and a few universities in France and Scotland. The International Coordination Office (ICO) of the programme is located in Alta, Norway and the countries who have national funding for the programme have also a national agency. Such countries are Norway, Sweden, the Kingdom of Denmark (incl. Greenland and Faroe Islands), Finland and Northern Canada. The Finnish National Agency for Education - EDUFI functions as Finland's national agency and is responsible for administering and awarding north2north funding to Finnish member institutions of the north2north programme.

Six universities, six universities of applied sciences and the Sámi Education Institute take part in the north2north programme in Finland. The educational institutions who are members of the University of the Arctic can join the programme.

Call 2023

In the call of spring 2023 north2north funding for outgoing student mobilities to other Nordic Countries and North America could be applied for. To maintain the balance of mobility flows and thus also possibilities of Finnish students to go on exchanges to North America, a limited amount of funding for incoming students from North America to Finland could be applied for as well.

Twelve north2north institutions applied and were awarded altogether 62,500 euros of funding.

With the awarded funding altogether eight short- and eight long-term mobilities from Finland to other Nordic Countries and 18 long-term mobilities from Finland to the North America, as well as 4 incoming long-term mobilities from the North America to Finland have been planned to be realised.
