Equity in assessment has raised concerns among both education professionals and parents or other persons who have custody of a pupil. More precise criteria for the final assessment will increase the equity of assessment and the comparability of grades. Primary and Lower Secondary Education is heading towards a more equitable assessment.

                       

The Finnish National Board of Education has developed Criteria for Final Assessment in Primary and Lower Secondary Education in all subjects. The criteria were published on 31 December 2020 and introduced on 1 August 2021. The aim is to increase the equity of assessment and the comparability of grades.
