In vocational education and training, you can complete a full qualification or qualification unit/s. All 160 Finnish vocational qualifications provide eligibility for higher education studies.

Finnish vocational education and training is competence- based and the students demonstrate their competences in real life work tasks.

The language requirements vary by field and qualification, and students may develop their language skills during their studies. Initial instruction may be provided in other languages where qualified teachers are available. However, the demonstrations of competence and the qualification certificates are always completed in the official language of the qualification, either Finnish or Swedish. Certain vocational qualifications are offered also in English. Information on these qualifications is available on the Studyinfo.fi portal or directly from education providers.
