The Jean Monnet Actions in the higher education sector support teaching and research on EU studies worldwide. EU studies refer to teaching, learning, and research about the European Union, its history, objectives, structure, functioning, and/or policies.
The objectives of higher education activities within Erasmus+ are to promote active European citizenship and the values underpinning the European Union: human dignity, freedom, democracy, equality, the rule of law, and human rights.
In addition, the Jean Monnet Actions in higher education strengthen the teaching, learning, and research of STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) by connecting them with EU policies.
The aim of the Jean Monnet Actions in general education and vocational education and training (VET) within Erasmus+ is to enhance pupils’, students’, teachers’, and trainers’ understanding of the European Union and its institutions. Access to knowledge about the EU is a key element in promoting active citizenship and shared values, such as freedom, tolerance, and non-discrimination.
In general education and VET, the Jean Monnet Actions seek to strengthen educators’ capacity to teach EU-related topics, collaboratively create engaging teaching methods, and develop teacher education programmes.
