Finnish National Agency for Education collects and publishes annually statistics on mobility of students and staff in vocational education. Data collection concerns all students and staff who study or work among vocational upper secondary qualification. Data collection of mobility in VET has been ongoing since 2008.

International mobility of students in VET from Finland and to Finland 2012-2021. In 2021, there were only 262 people who left abroad, compared to almost 5,000 in normal years.


In VET The most common mobility program for periods abroad is the Erasmus + program. Educational institutions also fund some of the periods abroad themselves.


The share of blended mobility in the periods of VET abroad was 10 % for students leaving Finland and almost 19 % for those arriving in Finland. Of the personnel leaving Finland abroad, 14% were blended mobility.
