Digital education tools and learning solutions, platforms and services are designed to enhance and support teaching and learning in a digital or hybrid environment. Digital solutions can be found at all levels of education, from pre-primary through VET and beyond. The use of these solutions can offer many benefits, such as increased engagement, personalised learning experiences, and more equitable access to educational content. High quality digital solutions may improve learning outcomes in situations where analogue materials would not have the same results.

    Below you can find Finnish digital learning solutions that are based on research and provide cost effective and scalable means to improve learning and quality of education. In order give you a more comprehensive understanding on what the solution is about,  we asked from the selected edtech companies what approach do they have on scalability, impact and sustainability, what implementation and adapatations requirements do they have and what are the ecosystems  in which their solutions are operating in. The solutions selected for this website are based on following criteria:

     

    • Operational in a country in the Global South
    • Based on research
    • Serves the K-12 segment and/or teacher education and training demands
    • Provides a cost effective and scalable means to improve learning and quality of education in a low income context
    • Technology type and infrastructure requirements fit contexts with limited resource availability (low and even no-tech contexts)
    • Skills/ knowledge/capacities the solution aims to develop are relevant and clear
    • Offline accessibility during using the solution is a plus
    • Has potential to increasing access to quality learning for learners in vulnerable and disadvantaged positions (e.g. children with disabilities, out of school children, children affected by conflict and crisis)
    • The solution provider understands the importance of developing whole digital education ecosystems
    • The solution can be contextualised for different needs and circumstances
