Language and translation examinations


If you need an official certificate of your language skills for example for a job or study place you can take one of the language tests for adults: YKI - the National Certificates of Language proficiency or VKT - Civil Service Language Proficiency Certificate. In the Authorised Translator's Examination System you can get the right to work as an Authorised translator.

You can take the the YKI test in nine different languages. The Civil Service Language Proficiency Certificate test allows you to prove your skills in Finnish or Swedish. In the Authorised Translator's Examination System you can prove your language and translation skills between two languages. One of the languages has to be Finnish, Swedish or Sami.

The Examination Board of Authorised Translators grants the right to practise as an authorised translator upon application. You can demonstrate your skills by taking the Authorised Translator's Examination.

If you work or want to work in public administration you can prove your skills in Finnish or Swedish with the Civil Service Language Proficiency Certificate.
